Curriculum Intent & Implementation

Sowerby Curriculum Overview here

The Sowerby curriculum is designed to foster courageous learners who embrace challenges with resilience and determination. At the heart of our educational philosophy are our 5 core values that encompass courage, resilience, kindness, respect, and acceptance. We believe that these values are not only fundamental to academic success but also essential for nurturing well-rounded individuals who contribute positively to their communities.

In consultation with our children, families, staff and Governors, we have carefully crafted a curriculum where we encourage child to step outside their comfort zones, take risks, and embrace new challenges with confidence.  Which is essential to prepare them for their future success, in a local, national and global world that is ever changing.

Kindness and respect are integral aspects of our curriculum, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued and respected. We promote empathy and understanding, teaching students to appreciate and celebrate diversity in all its forms.

Acceptance is another key value that underpins our curriculum, promoting a culture of inclusivity and belonging where differences are embraced and celebrated. We strive to create a learning community where all individuals feel accepted for who they are, regardless of background, abilities, or identity.

Through explicit teaching and modeling, we instill in our children the importance of these values in both their academic and personal lives. We believe that by embodying these values, our students will not only excel academically but also become compassionate and responsible global citizens who contribute positively to society.

By integrating these values into every aspect of our curriculum, we aim to nurture well-rounded individuals who are equipped with the skills, knowledge, and values to thrive in an ever-changing world.
